Sarah Studios: Endless Paintabilites!

Artist skilled in a variety of media. Art, Crafts, Fine and Unique Gifts, Hair Accessories, and more!

The Sarah of Sarah Studios...

... is a native to the Washington, DC area. She began pursuing art as a child and participated in summer art camp programs at a young age. During high school she became known for designing logos and t-shirts for various school events. The media of her choice became pen and ink, charcoal, and acrylic paint. She went on to study at Boston University: College of Fine Art, and eventually graduated from American University with a B.A. in Studio Art and minor in Psychology.

Throughout Sarah’s college years she discovered her specialty for hand painting wooden pepper mills, which replicate the lighthouses of the Outer Banks, N.C. In 2003 her work was featured in the “Three Generation Art Exhibit” in Washington, DC, featuring her mother and grandfather as well. Sarah also exhibited her work in private shows, partnering with her mother, known for designing and handcrafting jewelry. The show began in 2004 and still continues today.  In 2011 Sarah began making bows, turning them into headbands. Shortly after, she got the idea to hand paint wooden hair brushes along with hair accessories, which she called Hair Flare!  The latest addition to Sarah Studios has been her original pen and ink drawings, which date back to Sarah’s introduction to the world of art as she sat in class doodling the same patterns.  Sarah continues to sell at many of the DC area craft shows, including First Sunday Arts Festival in Annapolis, MD, and Art on the Avenue, in Alexandria, VA. Sarah also sells her pepper mills, handmade hair accessories, and pen and ink drawings at the Montgomery Farm Woman’s Co-Op in Bethesda.
